God of Abraham and Sarah, Moses and David,
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
We thank you for the great gift of Sacred
Scripture
which invites us into a personal and
mysterious relationship with you.
The Bible is your inspired Word and wisest of all
teachers.
Give us a deep hunger for your Word.
Help us understand what we read.
and apply it to our lives.
Inspire us daily to seek comfort and peace,
wisdom and guidance
in the timeless truths of Sacred Scripture.
May the words of the prophets challenge us.
May the Psalms become our hymn of praise.
May we recognize your voice speaking to us
especially in the Gospels
as they reveal Jesus to us and form us as
his disciples.
God, our Father,
Your Word has the power to save us.
Help us grow in our love for Sacred Scripture.
As we welcome your Word into our hearts,
may it draw us into prayer and union with
you.
We ask all through Christ Jesus, our Lord.
