November 2nd, All Souls’ Day, and in fact the entire month of November, have been designated by Catholics as a time of prayer for those who have died. The tradition of special remembrance of the dead is rooted in our belief that the dead will rise again and that all of us will be reunited in the Lord "so in Christ all will come to life again" (Cor. 15,22).

The priests of Holy Name will remember at all Masses during the month of November family members, relatives and friends who have departed from this life. The names of these individuals should be listed on the envelope provided to you in the current packet of church envelopes and returned immediately to the rectory.

All Souls Day: 7PM Mass, Wed. Nov. 2. All our deceased relatives and friends will be remembered, especially the names of those who died in the past year. A reception will follow in the Narthex. Extended family members and friends are most welcome to attend.

With the change of the weather, it is anticipated that additional parishioners may require home visits from parish priests and Eucharistic ministers during the winter months. Please contact the rectory office (472-7244) if a family member desires this worthy service.

Too often we fail to understand that Christian instruction about money is one of the best opportunities we have to teach our children about God’s love for us, and his ownership of all things. The way we use money is the extension of our personal characteristics. By teaching our children the Christian use of money, affording them control of money and the need to make decisions about money, we also confront them with the meaning of discipleship and Christian Stewardship.

The Rite of Commitment for Sophomore Confirmation candidates is Sunday November 6th at the 11:30 Mass. All Sophomore Confirmation candidates and their parents are to attend.

This weekend Oct. 30th is a scheduled weekend off. The next class is Nov. 6thfrom 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. We are still collecting food for the areas needy. Please bring a boxed or canned item to donate to the food pantry. Thanks so much for your help.

Also if you have any sold tickets, please turn them in by November 4^th. All tickets MUST be turned in by November 17^th for any winning ticket to be honored. APEX Youth Group appreciates your help with this fund raiser. All proceeds help to defray the cost of upcoming trips and events.

You are reminded to set clocks back one hour on Saturday evening, November 5th. All Sunday Masses next weekend November 6th will be on Standard Time.

Last year, Adult Bible Classes were held on the first two books of the Bible: Genesis and Exodus. This fall we continue our walk through the Bible. "I Will Trust God" is an excellent prayer booklet for anyone coping with loss and grief. Booklets cost $2 each and are available in the Narthex after weekend Masses or call Sr. Margie.

The St. Vincent dePaul Society is in need of baby clothes, sizes 3 mos. to 24 mos. Donations can be dropped off at the Depot located in the Ebensburg Mini-Mall (behind Mainline Bank) Tuesdays thru Saturdays between the hours of 10:00AM and Noon.

Holiday Food Bags are available in the Narthex this weekend to support the St. Vincent dePaul Ebensburg Food Pantry annual Food Drive for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please take home a bag and return it to the church library by November 6^th or 13^th. Or you may take the bag to the Food Pantry located in the Ebensburg Mini Mall, Tuesday thru Saturday from 10AM-Noon. We thank you for your continued generosity and support in helping serve the needy in our area.

CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS NEWS - TROOP FAN MAIL CAMPAIGN
The Catholic Daughters are participating in the 2011 Troop Fan Mail Campaign and would like your support. Please place a Christmas card in the boxes (marked "Troop Fan Mail") that are located at each church entrance. No envelopes, just your name, address and a personal note on the Christmas card for someone in the military. If you have extra cards that you would like to donate, we would appreciate your generosity. Many of our troops can't be home for the holidays, so your cards are always appreciated.

During the month of November, students from parochial grade schools will be visiting Bishop Carroll. These visits include lessons, tours, information, demonstrations, activities, and lunch. If you have a child in 7^th or 8^th grade at a public school and you would be interested in having them come for one of these days, please call Mr. Nagy at 814-472-7500 ext. 105 or email jnagy@bishopcarroll.org for more information. Also, any high school students interested in transferring to BC are encouraged to call and schedule a day to visit the school.

Enjoy conferences, confessions, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and more. Two Sacred Heart Sisters will be presenting conferences along with Molly Kelly, an international speaker, who will share insights from the saints and also her own experience that can help us to see the ‘privilege of the cross’ and meet it with ‘unshakable confidence.’ Retreat includes meals. Lodging is on a first come, first serve basis since there is limited space – so register now. The retreat begins Friday, November 4^th at 6pm and closes Sunday, November 6^th at noon. The Love of God Impels Us! This retreat is for young ladies in 7^th grade through 12^th grade. It includes: prayers, conferences, food, crafts, praise and worship, games and more. Next, Sunday, November 6, 2011, Holy Name Home and School Association Breakfast Buffet will be held in the church hall from 8 a.m. to Noon. Cost: Ages 4 and under FREE, 5-14 $4, and 15 and up $6.00. Buffet includes eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, potatoes, toast, muffins, sticky buns, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea. Take out available.

Holy Name 8^th Grade is conducting a fund raiser for their class trip. They are selling chances for $1.00 on the following items: Winter Basket including Longaberger Christmas Basket; $150 Holy Name Scrip of your choice; Family Game Night Basket; Sports Basket for kids; Mother’s Basket with Vera Bradley Purse; Mid’s Candy Basket. Tickets are available from any 8^th grader or Miss Hertzog, or the school and rectory offices. Drawing will be held on November 14th.
