BULLETIN NEWS

SOLEMNITY OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
Today we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Jesus. How sensitive is the Lord to our needs. He loves us with an everlasting love. He has taken the very substance of life, bread and wine, and made them into His Body and Blood so as to sustain, nourish and strengthen our lives by His very life! "The man who feeds on me will have life in me."
"Though we are many, we form a single body because we share the one loaf." We are all members of Christ's body. All of us have different gifts which together make the Body of Christ complete. Let us together thank and praise God for the precious gift of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
We use the occasion of this splendid feast to encourage a more active role on the part of parishioners to identify with the monthly hour of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament with members of the Nocturnal Adoration Society on the First Friday of each month and Exposition each Tuesday from 8:30AM -10:00AM. Remember, for all Catholics the Eucharist must remain the heart, core and center of their faith in Jesus Christ.

DECISION TIME - RETIREMENT DELAYED
In October of 2007, in a news release, an invitation was extended to the five diocesan priests scheduled for retirement in 2008 to consider a delay for their retirement date. The concern was extended due to the growing shortage of diocesan priests who are needed as shepherds of our parish churches.
Your pastor in a discerning process involving genuine prayer, family, doctors, brother priests and close friends has finally made his decision to remain as pastor of Holy Name for at least another year on a condition of experiencing reasonably good health. A major factor in this decision was the exceptional response on the part of parishioners in sharing their time and talent needed for the smooth operation of this venerable parish. Relying upon that same giftedness from parishioners for the following twelve months as experienced in the past years, I then will know that my decision was a proper and prudent one. I prayerfully thank you for your prayers, friendship and support in my role as pastor of Holy Name.

FESTIVAL NEWS
1. NEEDED: NAMES OF ALL FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS
Yes, all of us are aware that the great event for this parish, its Annual Festival, is five weeks away. Certainly not too early for chairpersons of the various concessions to be finalizing their lists of workers. THESE NAMES MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE RECTORY OFFICE IMMEDIATELY so that the Sunday bulletin of June 1st will carry the completed committee slates of names and hours of assignment.
2. FESTIVAL POSTERS
Parishioners are asked to assist in the distribution of Festival Posters throughout this county and beyond. Request any and all business enterprises for permission to display our parish’s Festival Poster in their business location. These posters are available in all three vestibules of our church.

A few examples; Italian Picnic, Golf Outing, Tennis Anyone, $100 Cash and Scrip, Vera Bradley, 2 Steelers Baskets and a Steeler Surprise!, Exercise and Fitness , Gourmet Kitchen Goodies, TO NAME A FEW!!!! Now, that does not mean we reached our goal of 150 yet! So, please keep the baskets coming and if possible get them to us in the next week so we can do our listing and marking them for display. And the basket house, with the correct address, is the Clauto house at 606 WEST SAMPLE St! Remember, we will pick any basket or donations up with just a phone call to 472-6038 (Clauto) or 749-7352 (Merlo). Again, to all the generous parishioners of Holy Name, a big THANK YOU!!!

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL - GOAL $89,918.00
Thank you to all who have participated in the Annual Catholic Appeal. To date, parishioners have generously donated $34,119.90, or 38%, toward our parish goal of $89,918.00. Please prayerfully consider supporting both our Diocesan ministries and our parish. If you do not have a pledge card, you may mail your gift (made payable to Annual Catholic Appeal) directly to the parish office. We wish each family to be sensitized to the fact that the diocese assessed $63.10 to each household. That accounts for Holy Name’s total assessment of $89,918.00. Those parishioners who could donate $100.00 or more would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you for your generous support and return your pledge card at your earliest convenience. Extra ACA envelopes can be found in the pews of the church.

MEMORIAL DAY
National customs can change with the times and needs of the people. But there is one custom, a very precious one, that should not be changed. That is, the day set aside by our government to honor all those who have given their lives in the service of our country - Memorial Day. On this day we are not celebrating war. We are remembering that when it was necessary to fight to preserve our freedom there were those who gave their lives to keep us free. Gratitude and prayers for these veterans is extended again this Memorial Day 2008.

HOLY NAME CEMETERIES
Parishioners can be proud of the appearances of both parish cemeteries. Maintenance personnel are to be commended for their solicitous care of these sacred acres of burial ground.
There will be no Field Mass at the cemetery site this year. Plan to attend the 9:00AM Mass in church on Monday.

WEEKLY ADORATION: CHANGED TO THURSDAYS 6:00-9:00 PM
The recent Parish Survey indicated that over 40 people prefer weekly adoration on Thursday evenings rather than Tuesday mornings.. As of June 12, weekly Adoration will be 6:00-9:00pm on Thursdays. An atmosphere of silence will be maintained, closing with Benediction. A Sign Up Notebook will be on the Gift Bearing Table. Please sign up for ½ hour or 1 hour, and try to keep the same time commitment each week. There must always be someone present before the Blessed Sacrament during Exposition.

STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE - A GENEROUS PERSON
A generous person knows how to be loving and understanding and how to give material help without demanding love, understanding or help in return. He gives and forgets he has given, and in this lies his riches. “He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Cor 9:6-7

CONFIRMATION TEAM THANKS YOU
The Confirmation team would like to thank all those who volunteered at this year's Confirmation. Our hope is that the newly anointed realize the great grace that they have received through the sacrament of Confirmation. Also that they let the Holy Spirt speak to them and guide them for the rest of their lives. There are thousands of ways that God can work through you, in our church and community. Take advantage of the many activities of the APEX youth group. If you need more information contact Tom Deskevich at 472-5903. Come Holy Spirit!

FIRST COMMUNION PICTURES
Holy Name First Holy Communion pictures may be picked up at the rectory Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-Noon or 12:30-4:00PM.
