IT’S HERE!!! FESTIVAL 2008!!!
The pastor is overwhelmed with the generous outpouring of support evidenced in
all the preparation for this year's Annual Festival. Open one's eyes and you see
dedication, love and energy being applied in an effort to secure success for
this annual event. We indeed express prayerful gratitude to those individuals
manifesting so much care and concern for the well-being of Holy Name Parish.
We ask again for parishioners to return the Raffle Chances by mid-afternoon
Sunday. Encouragement is extended for parishioners to patronize all aspects of
this Festival, especially the Turkey Dinner being served from 11:30 AM to 6:00
PM this Sunday. Also, parishioners willing to volunteer service, but not
assigned a specific charge, should present themselves to any concession where
assistance is needed.
The Big Money Raffle will take place at 10:00 PM.
Volunteers are urgently needed for the Festival Cleanup. The procedure for
Cleanup late Sunday night last year was SO successful that the same method will
be employed this year. Men, give the parish one hour after ten PM on Sunday to
return all Festival materials to their storage areas.
ADDITIONAL FESTIVAL WORKERS
Finance Committee: Mary Kay Cessna. Executive Committee: Doug Tusing. Dining
Room: Friday - Dave McConnell; Sunday - Dianna Giovacchini, Janet Damin, Linda
Urish, Sunday Ticket Collector - Theresa Peacock.
ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL - GOAL $89,918.00
Thank you to all who have participated in the Annual Catholic Appeal. To date,
parishioners have generously donated $46,052.56, or 51%, toward our parish goal
of $89,918.00. Please prayerfully consider supporting both our Diocesan
ministries and our parish. If you do not have a pledge card, you may mail your
gift (made payable to Annual Catholic Appeal) directly to the parish office. We
wish each family to be sensitized to the fact that the diocese assessed $63.10
to each household. That accounts for Holy Name’s total assessment of $89,918.00.
Those parishioners who could donate $100.00 or more would be greatly
appreciated.. Thank you for your generous support and return your pledge card at
your earliest convenience.
RECTORY NEWS
The secretary will be out of the office the week of June 9th. Please limit your
calls to those of an urgent nature during this time frame.
I
THE ABORTION ISSUE
Telling differences exist between candidates seeking leadership roles in our
national government. How each perceives and talks about unplanned children is
extremely illuminating. As technology is advancing so are the opinions changing
on this issue based upon sonogram, medical advances in the field of fetology and
the involvement of compassionate friends. These efforts are full-proof that in a
mother’s pregnancy two human beings exist with rights and needs. We are now
being told that younger women are moving away from the abortion position. The
negative side effects of birth control pills is also finally being exposed both
in their short-range and long-range usage.
